Friends of St Faith’s
Who are the Friends of St Faith’s?
The Friends of St Faith’s are a group of people who contribute a minimum of £1 per month to ‘The Friends’ which was set up to help the church care for its land and buildings so that they remain in good condition for future generations. They recognise that keeping a church and centre like this in good shape is an expensive task. In recent years there have been many major projects. We have replaced windows, re-ordered the church, decorated internally, installed new heating and sound systems and have restored the church organ. Other major projects have included building the Parish Centre itself and laying out a Garden of Remembrance for the interment of ashes.

Since 2005 the Friends have contributed £10,000 to cover the cost of refurbishing the floor of the church, paying for church maintenance projects and helping to pay for the refurbishment of the bell. But fundraising is not the only purpose of The Friends. Many minor jobs in and around the Church need volunteer labour and extra hands are welcome for occasional working parties. We also have an annual outing. In the last few years visits have included Eltham Palace, Petworth Parish Church and House, the English Martyrs Church and churches in the New Forest.

Who can be a Friend of St Faith’s?
Absolutely anyone. The Friends of St Faith’s was set up for people who value the life and work of St Faith’s and especially for those who cannot join us on Sundays but would like to help support the church financially so that it remains in good condition for future generations. At the moment there are just over one hundred and fifty Friends. Our aim is to try to have a thousand and this will ensure that we can succeed in keeping this very special place in great condition for years to come.
Would you like to join us?
If so, you could help to contribute to the funds by joining the Friends and a making a single payment or by donating a regular minimum of £1 per month. Some people also choose to become a ‘working friend’ by helping practically.
How can I join?
To join the Friends of St Faith’s download and print the Friends Form, comlete the end section and return to: The Secretary of The Friends of St Faith’s, The Parish Office, St Faith’s Church, Victoria Square, Lee-on-the-Solent, Hants PO13 9NF.
There are two ways of paying the membership fee. You can pay either annually by cheque or cash or, alternatively, by Standing Order. A Standing Order is a great help because it saves on the cost of administration. If you are a tax payer and can Gift Aid your membership fee then 28% can be reclaimed from the government.
If you would like to become a Friend by making a one-off donation, (£12 for one year) please complete Section A and also Section C if you can Gift Aid. (Cheques payable to ‘St Faith’s PCC’).
